Thank you, supporters — Help us spread the word

With the grand opening of the Bettie Allard YMCA on the horizon, we want to take this opportunity to once again thank our generous donors for their support in making this new centre of community a reality, enabling the Y to be there for even more youth, families and adults.

We couldn’t have reached this stage without you, and remain grateful and humbled by the aid of our donors, volunteers and supporters who have helped to make this project possible. We’d like to acknowledge our Coquitlam Campaign Cabinet – members of which are pictured above –for their efforts to raise funds and awareness as we now turn to the community and the continued generosity of donors to reach the finish line.

We are excited to share that the generosity of an anonymous patron will be assisting us in reaching our goal on this important project by auctioning off dozens of fine-art pieces from their personal collection for charity during the summer and fall. Thanks to this donor’s selflessness, half of the proceeds from the auctioned pieces will benefit the Bettie Allard YMCA, with the other half earmarked in support of BC Ballet and Food Stash.

As we prepare for the first of these donated works to go up for bid in August, we look forward to sharing more details in the near future on how to participate in upcoming auctions to be conducted by Heffel Fine Art Auction House.

With the Bettie Allard YMCA now just a matter of months from its opening, the YMCA is busy making its presence known in the community by reaching out to residents in the Burquitlam area and continuing our fundraising efforts.

On June 25, the Y was pleased to participate in the Oakdale Community Block Party, which took place a stone’s throw from where the Bettie Allard YMCA is under construction. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with dozens of local families, many of whom expressed their excitement and interest in having a YMCA centre of community set to open in their neighbourhood. Our thanks to Qualex-Landmark and Robert King – Peter A. Allard’s nephew – for inviting us to be involved.

As you’re out and about visiting or participating in more community events this summer, be on the lookout for members of our team! The YMCA will have booths and representation at several gatherings in the region in the coming months, so please stop by to say hello and learn more about the Bettie Allard YMCA. We’ll also be connecting with households and families in the community by regular mail to let them know about our grand opening scheduled for the fall and the many fantastic amenities that the Bettie Allard YMCA will provide for area residents.

We can use your help to spread the word, too! We encourage you to revisit our What Really Matters Capital Campaign site and share the fun and fulfilling ways one can donate to our cause with friends and family members. Every contribution makes a big difference in our community!
